Industry experts to present at CGA conference

[1]Flagging synthetic diamonds and jewellery crime are just two of the topics that will be featured at the Canadian Gemmological Association Gem Conference 2014.

Held at the The National Club in Toronto from April 3 to 7, the 24th annual conference brings together a roster of experts from across the jewellery spectrum.

“Many people are surprised to be told the field of gemmology is constantly changing,” says Canadian Gemmological Association (CGA) president, Duncan Parker. “In fact, the discovery of new gem localities and the flood of new enhanced and manufactured gems on the market dramatically affect pricing and make it essential for gemmologists to stay abreast of gem trade news and to upgrade skills regularly.”

In addition to seminars on a range of subjects, attendees can also participate in four hands-on workshops, including specialized training on emerald and corundum treatments, as well as pricing and grading cultured pearls. Priority registration for the workshops will be given to conference delegates.
