Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co., has donated $2000 as part of an essay-writing contest that asked participants to share what they would do with $1000 given to charity.
More than 1700 entries were posted to the insurer’s Perfect Circle website and Facebook page in response to Hope for the Holidays. The contest was co-sponsored by Sarah’s Hope Jewelry.
The grand-prize winner received $1000 for their charity of choice, as well as jewellery by Sarah’s Hope Jewelry. Five runners-up were given jewellery plus a $200 charitable donation.
“We are thankful to be able to give back to so many deserving charities that are near and dear to the winners’ hearts,” said Patrick Drummond, Jewelers Mutual’s vice-president of sales and marketing.
“It makes the charitable donations even more meaningful. Hope for the Holidays has made our entire staff reflect on the true meaning of the season, as it has done for those who participated in the contest.”
The charities chosen by the winners were:
