Jewelers Mutual is creating closer ties with Canada’s jewellery industry, signing separate agreements with the Canadian Jewellery Group (CJG) and Jewellers Vigilance Canada (JVC).
The deal with CJG will provide its members with free access to JM University’s online safety and security education programs, as well as offer educational presentations at CJG events. The insurer will also provide financial support to help the CJG continue to offer its members more education, programs, and events. The agreement calls for CJG to exclusively endorse Jewelers Mutual’s insurance products for jewellery businesses and individual jewellery owners to its members.
“It’s exciting to partner with an organization that was founded by jewellers, like Jewelers Mutual, and remains committed to strengthening the jewellery industry,” said Darwin Copeman, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Jewelers Mutual. “By working with the CJG, we can do so much more to benefit jewellers and their businesses.”
CJG general manager Beth Saunders says the agreement is a win for members.
“With this partnership, our Canadian Jewellery Group members have access to the best insurance options available in the industry,” she said. “We believe that having proper, sufficient insurance coverage is essential for any store owner today. We have worked with Jewelers Mutual for a number of years, and this alliance will strengthen that relationship.”
Although Jewelers Mutual and JVC have been working together since 2004, this new deal formalizes the relationship. In return for exclusively endorsing the company’s insurance products, Jewelers Mutual will provide its insureds with JVC’s comprehensive Crime Prevention Package.
“Jewellers Vigilance Canada is the leading crime-prevention resource for jewellers in Canada,” said David Sexton, vice-president of loss prevention at Jewelers Mutual and JVC board member.
“Jewelers Mutual is proud to partner with this organization that has made such significant contributions to the war on jewellery crime. With Jewelers Mutual’s help, JVC continues to work closely with Canadian law enforcement to help them better understand the crime threats that Canadian jewellers face.”
According to JVC executive director Phyllis Richard, the partnership between the two has helped build relationships with various law enforcement agencies and allowed them to work closely to fight crime against the jewellery and watch industry.
“The partnership between JVC and Jewelers Mutual is a win-win-win partnership,” Richard said. “It’s a win for JVC, a win for Jewelers Mutual, and a definite win for the jewellery and watch industry. Jewelers Mutual is an outstanding partner to JVC and our industry because of all it does to make sure jewellers receive important crime-prevention information and critical loss-prevention training.”
