Jewellery Business garners top editorial award nomination

SB_Feb-2012_80&84-spreadJewellery Business has been nominated for a 2012 Eddie award for its in-depth look at the Kimberley Process.

Written by Ian Smillie, “Kimberley’s green light on Marange diamonds” is a finalist in the ‘Business-to-Business, Retail, Single Article’ category.

“It is a great honour to be nominated for an Eddie award, which recognizes editorial excellence in magazine writing,” said Jewellery Business editorial director, Blair Adams.

“Nearly 2000 entries across 100 categories are submitted every year; to be considered from among this level of content quality further cements our position as Canada’s jewellery magazine,” added JB managing editor, Jacquie De Almeida.

Sponsored by Folio: Magazine, the Eddie and Ozzie awards represent the largest competition in magazine publishing. They are prestigious designations bestowed to only the best editorial and creative teams. A panel of more than 300 judges narrowed the number of entries to a list of roughly 400 finalists.

Gold, silver, and bronze awards will be handed out at a luncheon in New York City on Oct. 31.

This is Jewellery Business’s second nomination this year for writing excellence. In May, JB received a nod and later won silver at the Kenneth R. Wilson Awards for bench tips writer Tom Weishaar’s six-part series on stone-setting techniques.
