Jewellers Vigilance Canada (JVC) is looking for your input on revisions to guidelines pertaining to the use of gemstone nomenclature.

The group’s Gemstone Guidelines Revision Committee has reviewed the Canadian Guidelines with Respect to the Sale and Marketing of Diamonds, Gemstones and Pearls, Edition 2009, and has suggested changes.

Now available for comment, an electronic version of the draft can be attained through JVC’s office via info@jewellersvigilance.ca[1] or by calling (416) 368-4840. In the new version, the document’s title is now the subtitle.

The committee is comprised of industry experts Duncan Parker of Dupuis Fine Jewellery Auctioneers; Odile Civitello, president of École de Gemmologie de Montréal; and Warren Boyd of R.T. Boyd Ltd.

The deadline to submit comments is Aug. 30. All suggestions will be reviewed by the committee.
