Christie’s New York Magnificent Jewels auction saw more than US$28-million in sales on July 29, with three impressive diamonds stealing the show.
The event’s top lot was a necklace, featuring a 115.38-carat pear-shaped diamond (F colour, VVS1 clarity), which realized $6,290,500.
Several fancy-colour diamonds also led the sale, including an internally flawless 7.16-carat fancy intense blue diamond ring, which sold for $3,855,000, and a 7.65-carat fancy light purplish pink diamond ring, which went for $819,000.
Several gemstone pieces also achieved high prices, including a sapphire ring of 53.48 carats, which sold for $615,000; a 35.77-carat emerald ring, which went for $399,000; and a sapphire and diamond necklace that sold for $325,000.
The sale saw global participation, with clients registered from 34 countries.
