The Natural Diamond Council (NDC) recently hosted an event at Canada House in Trafalgar Square, London, U.K., to celebrate the legacy and significance of Canadian diamonds. The event, titled Diamonds, A Canadian Love Story, was organized in partnership with the High Commission of Canada in the UK and the Government of the Northwest Territories.
The evening focused on the ethical sourcing and cultural heritage of Canada’s natural diamonds.
A key part of the event was a panel discussion moderated by author and producer Bronwyn Cosgrave, an author and producer. The panel featured Emmy-nominated actress and NDC global ambassador Lily James, as well as Kateri Rose Lynn, Councillor for Dettah – Yellowknives Dene First Nation and representative of Diamond de Canada, Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation CEO Paul Gruner, and Boodles director Jody Wainwright.
The discussion explored several topics, including the unique legacy of Canadian diamonds, ethical mining practices, and their cultural importance to Indigenous communities. The panelists also addressed how the Canadian diamond industry is helping to shape the luxury market with an emphasis on sustainability and transparency.
In addition to the panel, the event featured an exhibition showcasing collections from prominent jewellery brands such as Dries Criel, Almod Diamonds, Boodles, and the Lands Collection by Diamonds of Canada. The display highlighted the craftsmanship of Canadian diamonds and their journey from the earth to fine jewellery.
“Canadian diamonds are a true testament to ethical luxury. Their legacy is built on transparency and unparalleled craftsmanship,” says NDC CEO David Kellie.
