A $10 million-project aimed at supporting women in southern Africa has received celebrity support.
Lupita Nyong’o has been appointed the first-ever global ambassador for De Beers, leading its new campaign, ‘De Beers: Where It Begins.’
Per the partnership, De Beers will work with the Academy Award-winning actor in pursuit of the brand’s ‘Building Forever[2]’ commitment, which aims to engage 10,000 girls in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), support 10,000 women entrepreneurs, and invest at least $10 million across southern Africa to achieve these goals by 2030.
“I’m honoured to be the first global ambassador for De Beers,” Nyong’o says. “My partnership with [the company] allows me to extend my advocacy for women and girls around the world.”
