Maison Birks moves into Hudson’s Bay flagship store

Two of Canada’s most iconic retailers are joining forces, with Maison Birks setting up shop in Hudson’s Bay Toronto flagship store.

Located on the seventh floor of the revitalized Hudson’s Bay, the bridal boutique will offer an assortment of engagement rings, wedding bands, and jewellery, all with a focus on Canadian diamonds.

This is the first time Maison Birks has set up a bridal counter outside its own doors.

“This will be a historical partnership between two of Canada’s oldest and most iconic prestige brands,” said Jean-Christophe Bédos, Birks Group’s president and chief executive officer (CEO).

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Hudson’s Bay to offer our customers a unique, Canadian experience, focused on traceable Canadian diamonds.”

Construction of the new 20,000-sf bridal salon is already underway and expected to be completed by May 2014. It will be modelled after Maison Birks’ new store concept, which made its debut the recently opened DIX30 in Brossard, Que., and Mapleview in Burlington, Ont.

“Hudson’s Bay continues to offer the very best to brides and our new partnership with Maison Birks is no exception,” said Evelyn Reynolds, Hudson’s Bay’s senior vice-president of bridal, licensing, and business development.

“From diamonds to dresses and still more to come, our Toronto flagship will be the ultimate bridal destination.”
