Martin Ross to focus on ‘Made in Canada’ brands

Canadian Rocks is one brand Martin Ross will be concentrating on as part of its focus on Canadian-manufactured fine jewellery.

Toronto-based company Martin Ross will no longer distribute product lines manufactured outside the Great White North, concentrating instead on its ‘Made in Canada’ brands.

The eliminated product lines are My First Diamond, Currency, Gold ‘N Dreams, Gold ‘N Gifts, and Hot Diamonds. All were distributed through the company’s Master Design division.

“These wholesale product lines were a small part of our business,” said Cameron Gillies, president and chief operating officer (COO) of Martin Ross Group.

“We want to devote all our resources to what we do best: designing and handcrafting the finest jewellery that is truly made in Canada, not overseas or south of the U.S. border.”

The company says it will concentrate on the growing demand for its fine jewellery in Canada, the United States, and throughout the United Kingdom.

“By eliminating these wholesale product lines, we cut costs and maintain our competitive edge, so that we can continue to manufacture in Canada,” Gillies added. “We are proud to design and handcraft fine jewellery right here at home to the highest international standards, using Canadian talent and expertise, Canadian diamonds, and Royal Canadian Mint gold.”Â

Libman, a division of Martin Ross, celebrates its 80th anniversary this year. It has manufactured 100 per cent of its jewellery in Canada, while Master Design produces 80 per cent of its jewellery here.

Martin Ross recently introduced its Arctic Circle brand to the United Kingdom and is looking to grow the line in that market. It is also building other lines like Alfred Sung ‘Always’ bridal collection and Canadian Rocks.
