Moti Besser has returned to the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE), serving once again as its managing director.

“Moti brings significant added value to this position, due to his extensive experience in managing large and complex organizations in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the public and the private sectors in Israel, and abroad,” said IDE president Yair Sahar. “I have no doubt Moti will make an important contribution to strengthening the Israeli diamond industry, which accounts for one quarter of Israel’s industrial exports.”

Besser served as brigadier general with IDF, and most recently, as managing director of the State Comptroller’s Office. He was also financial adviser to IDF’s chief of staff and the head of budgets in the Ministry of Defense.

Sahar encouraged Besser—who was at IDE from 2002 to 2007—to return and actively participate in his initiatives to renew and advance the exchange.

“The Israel Diamond Exchange, the largest and most sophisticated bourse in the world with 3000 members, represents a huge economic force in the Israeli economy and a leading light among the world’s diamond bourses,” Besser said. “I see my participation in leading the exchange as a huge challenge, especially in light of the tough competition posed by the world’s other diamond centres.”
