The American Gem Society (AGS) has introduced the new Jewelry Evaluation Advisor™ (JEA) designation and relaunched the updated Certified Sales Associate (CSA) program. These initiatives are designed to enhance the skills and professionalism of jewellery professionals.

The JEA program offers retail sales professionals and supplier associates training in jewellery intake, repair evaluation, and quality control standards. Participants who complete the JEA course, along with the AGS 101 module, will earn the JEA designation, demonstrating their expertise in jewellery repair communication and service.

“The JEA began as a vision from the American Gem Society’s Education Committee just two years ago,” said Kevin Mays, CGA, AGS Education Committee chair. “This course is a true collaboration between professional bench jewellers, jewellery experts, and the AGS team. It’s a testament to the strength of our community and our shared commitment to elevating the industry and empowering its members.”

The updated CSA program is aimed at new sales associates entering the jewellery industry. It includes the Graduate Sales Associate Course, which covers essential jewellery knowledge and sales skills, and the AGS 101 course, which provides an overview of the AGS mission and standards. Those who complete both courses will earn the CSA designation, signifying their commitment to professionalism and customer service in the jewellery field.
