Omega recently auctioned 11 unique MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold suitcases through Sotheby’s. Each suitcase contains a set of 11 Omega x Swatch “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches, marking the first time all of the limited-edition timepieces were available for purchase in one set.

Omega and Swatch unveiled the highly anticipated MoonSwatch collaboration in March 2022. The watches in the collection are made using Bioceramic, a unique blend of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biosourced material formed from castor oil, developed and patented by Swatch. They drew inspiration from space, the planets, and the original Omega Speedmaster.

In 2023, the collection was reworked with 18K Moonshine Gold, a distinctive yellow gold alloy created in-house by Omega. These “Mission to Moonshine Gold” versions feature a second hand coated in the Moonshine Gold material, and new individual patterns on certain watch designs—such as a strawberry pattern, flower pattern, or lollipop design.

Prior to the auction, each of the 11 suitcases were placed on display in Omega boutiques around the world—available for view in Zurich, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, New York, London, Milan, Paris, and Sydney. The suitcases contain a golden monocle with the Omega x Swatch logo, and a unique coin engraved with the three-letter aviation code of the particular city they had been displayed in (e.g. HKG for Hong Kong). The same code will also be engraved on the side of the watches in the suitcase.

All 11 suitcases were sold for a total of approximately C$823,000 (US$606,885). Omega will be donating 100 per cent of the proceeds from the auction to its long-term partner Orbis International, a non-profit organization committed to fighting blindness and vision loss around the world.
