Sunny skies prevailed at VicenzaOro’s About J and ‘Fall,’ with exhibitors reporting strong leads and healthy orders.

Spirits were high at VicenzaOro’s ‘Fall’ edition earlier this month, with organizers reporting steady attendance and greater quality of buyers from the previous year.

More than 1400 exhibitors from Italy’s traditional gold centres, as well as 30 countries around the world, participated in the event, billed as a final opportunity to stock up for the holiday season.

Roberto Ditri, chair and chief executive officer (CEO) of Fiera di Vicenza, noted an air of optimism, despite Italy’s economic situation and rumours of a bailout.

“During the exhibition, I had the chance to speak with association representatives, buyers, designers, journalists, and customers, and I noticed a different and more constructive attitude,” he said.

“I sensed a fervent desire for a new boost, conviction in their own abilities, interest in innovation, an extraordinary willingness to listen, and enormous receptiveness to change. Companies widely appreciate the activities we are developing in order to introduce them into the markets where demand is greater.”

A similar attitude marked the fair’s invitation-only event, About J, which was held at the Grand Hotel Savoia in the resort town of Cortina d’Ampezzo prior to ‘Fall.’

There, 24 luxury brands that included the likes of Roberto Coin, Vianna Joias, and Vendorafa, reported strong leads and a high level of orders.

According to the fair, Italian jewellery exports between January and April of this year saw a marginal increase in value of +2.3 per cent, although quantity dipped by -3.2 per cent. Switzerland received the bulk of Italian jewellery exports by value at 22 per cent, with the United Arab Emirates and the United States coming in at 14.3 per cent and 8.6 per cent, respectively. Although China ranked fifth, it recorded a 28.1 per cent increase.
