Pastels paired with vivid brights ruled the runways at New York Fashion Week, making them the hottest hues to look out for when winter is said and done.
Pantone Color Institute has compiled its top-10 list of colour essentials for Spring 2014. This season, designers opted for soft blue, pink, and green, which means fashionistas will be hot on the trail of jewellery to accessorize with these colours.
“This season, consumers are looking for a state of thoughtful, emotional, and artistic equilibrium,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“While this need for stability is reflected in the composition of the palette, the inherent versatility of the individual colours allows for experimentation with new looks and colour combinations.”
Designers are putting a modern twist on the traditional, with shades like ‘Placid Blue’ inducing a sense of peaceful calmness, ‘Violet Tulip’ evoking nostalgia, and ‘Hemlock’ green putting a different spin on last year’s hottest hue, ‘Emerald.’
