Peregrine Diamonds Ltd., has approved a $1.5-million diamond exploration program on its property in Nanuq, Nunavut.
Designed to set the stage for drilling next year, the program will take a closer look at 10 to 20 geophysical and unexplained kimberlite indicator mineral (KIM) anomalies identified following the discovery of three diamondiferous kimberlites two years ago. Some of the anomalies are more than five ha in size.
Nanuq is located on 314,000 ha about 275 km north and 250 km northeast, respectively, of the communities of Rankin Inlet and Baker Lake.
The company believes there exists the potential for more diamondiferous kimberlite discoveries in the area. The property is 100 per cent owned by Peregrine.
Field work is set to begin in early July. About 1200 heavy mineral samples are expected to be collected.
