Toronto police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly misled a jeweller to believe he was trading a piece of jewellery for diamond rings.
Investigators say a man entered a jewellery store on Bloor Street West with paperwork supporting the authenticity of the stones.
Initially, the store wanted to buy the rings, however, a deal was struck to trade them for another piece of jewellery. It was later discovered the diamonds were not real and worth significantly less than what the store believed. Although the man’s identification was recorded, police have since concluded it is fraudulent.
The man is described as black, 6′ 2″ to 6’5″, 210 lbs., and with a shaved or bald head. He was last seen wearing a black zippered sweater, Nike T-shirt with a swoosh across the chest, and black jeans.
