Prada introduces lab-grown diamonds into the world of high fashion

Prada’s most recent jewellery collection, titled Eternal Gold, officially places lab-grown diamonds into the realm of high fashion. The first-ever high fashion brand to employ lab-grown diamonds into its products, Prada argues that lab-created diamonds embody luxury far better than natural diamonds.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Prada’s Jewellery Director Timothy Iwata states that the brand’s lab-grown diamonds push the boundaries of high fashion by offering a gemstone that is crafted exclusively for individual clients. He claims that “It’s not just about customizing some existing material. We actually grow that material for the client.”

This new collection consists of diamonds cut into a triangular shape much like Prada’s logo. The brand has named this diamond design “Prada-cut.” Eternal Gold diamond pieces include heart-shaped earrings, a serpent-inspired ring and bracelet set, and a thick gold necklace studded with diamonds throughout.

  1. This is about as dumb as you can get! Don’t they know in a bery short times Lab Created Diamonds will probably be worth less than a $100 a credit. I would hate to be someone who inherits this from their mom or grandmother only find out it’s worth the price of the gold and that’s it!
