Found at the Karowe Mine in Botswana, this 9.46-carat Type II blue diamond will be sold on tender Nov. 26.

Vancouver-based Lucara Diamond Corp., has unearthed a 9.46-carat blue diamond at its Karowe Mine in Botswana.

The Type II stone is the first blue diamond to be found at the mine and will be sold on tender Nov. 26, along with more than 57,000 carats of diamonds.

“The recovery of such a rare stone is of great importance to the Karowe asset,” said William Lamb, Lucara’s president and chief executive officer (CEO). “We had previously identified a population of Type II diamonds at Karowe and the recovery of this rare blue diamond confirms the quality distribution of the diamonds being mined at Karowe.”
