The organizer of two of Canada’s leading jewellery trade shows has opted to consolidate its Canadian show operations into its U.S. headquarters.
Reed Exhibitions North America says event teams in Norwalk, Conn., will oversee and produce its Canadian shows, such as JCK Toronto and Ontario PGA.
“The current market conditions do not support the current Canadian event organization,” said Dave Bonaparte, group vice-president of JCK Events. “However, we will re-evaluate this decision as market conditions improve in the future.”
Although Reed confirmed JCK Toronto is still a go for next August, the future of Collections by JCK—the Vancouver show it launched in 2008—is undecided.
“Right now, we are looking at strategic alternatives for Western Canada and are re-evaluating the Vancouver show,” Bonaparte added. “Our commitment to providing outstanding value for our customers for the Canadian events will continue without pause. We will operate and conduct business as usual relative to the Canadian events throughout the transition process.”
