Gem photographer John Parrish died April 1 after falling from a cliff while on a camping trip.
He was perhaps best known in industry circles for his photographic work of the winning pieces in the American Gem Trade Association’s (AGTA’s) Spectrum Awards[1]. He was 65 years old.
“Suddenly the world changed,” his family said in an announcement. “This strong, steadfast, loving man who loved nature so much, who was so present, was the best listener, who was always serving others, and who gave so generously of himself is no longer here on this earthly plane with us. It’s still very hard to believe… His passion, artistry, dedication to excellence, creativity, his love for people, and his sincere desire to find a solution that worked for everyone will be missed. He lives in us. We are all better for having known him.”
Parrish is survived by his wife of 27 years, Trish, and their daughters, Karen Dove and Kaila Rose.
A celebration of his life will be held on April 9 at 1 p.m. at Greenland Hills UMC in Dallas, Tex.
