Blue diamonds are pretty rare as far as coloured stones are concerned. And now, Rio Tinto is offering them up for tender in a collection called ‘Once in a blue moon.’
Held in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Perth, Australia, the closed tender will showcase a range of premium and commercial diamonds with single cuts, a number of matching pairs, and a selection of smaller diamonds.
“We are excited to showcase our first-ever collection of precious blue and violet Argyle diamonds, sourced from several years of production at the mine,” said Josephine Archer, sales and marketing manager for Argyle Pink Diamonds. “It is an enchanting collection that will appeal to connoisseurs and collectors alike.”
The Argyle mine has only 10 years left of production and blue diamonds occur sporadically. Bids close on April 8.
