Roger Dubuis and former distributor end legal actions

Nearly two years after filing legal actions against one another, Swiss watchmaker Roger Dubuis S.A. and its former U.S. distributor, Helvetia Time Corp., have agreed to drop their cases.

Although confidentiality provisions prevent either side from disclosing details of the deal, the companies announced in a statement they had “agreed to resolve all outstanding issues concerning the distribution of Roger Dubuis products in North America. As part of the agreement, all legal actions pending between both parties will be withdrawn.”

In late 2005, a dispute erupted when Roger Dubuis S.A. ended its contract with Helvetia, which was then known as Roger Dubuis North America, Inc. (RDNA) for alleged breach of contract. Calling it an “unjust termination,” RDNA said the allegations were an attempt by the Swiss watchmaker to take control of business in the U.S.

Roger Dubuis S.A. denied the charge and said it was “restructuring and improving its international distribution network.”

The companies filed legal actions against each other in 2006.

The brand will continue being distributed in the United States by Compagnie Financiere Richemont S.A.
