Italian jewellers Calgaro and Rosato are uniting to better tackle the tougher economy.
Italian brands Rosato and Calgaro are now one, following a merger announced at the VicenzaOro First fair last month.

While neither company released financial details of the deal, Calgaro will remain based in Milan and produce its goods in Vicenza, the hub of the Italian gold industry.

The agreement is described as a means to help ride the economic times, which have battered the Italian jewellery industry.

According to Rosato spokesperson Stefania Marchesi, the companies will continue to operate independently in terms of design, product development, and brand strategy.

Rosato—which produces whimsical gold and enamel charms—was founded in 2004 by Simona Rosato. Its advertising campaign features actress Elizabeth Hurley.

Calgaro was founded by Giuseppe Calgaro and Monica Fin in 2000 and is known for its woven, fabric-like gold and silver jewellery.
