Rosy Blue NV is firing back after Belgian media incorrectly claimed its founder, Dilip Mehta, had been arrested by Dubai authorities in connection with a diamond fraud investigation.
“The entire management and staff of Rosy Blue NV are deeply shocked by the reckless manner in which a number of erroneous reports have severely damaged the company’s reputation,” said its managing director, Amit Bhansali.
“These reports, which recently appeared on 10th July 2014 in a handful of Belgian newspapers, were published without any consultation or contact with the company. These reports not only violated the personal privacy of Mr. Dilip Mehta, founder of Rosy Blue NV, and his family, but have worldwide repercussions on relations between the company and government authorities, bankers, customers, and suppliers.”
The situation appears to be a case of mistaken identity, as authorities arrested a man with the same name in relation to the investigation.
According to industry expert Chaim Even-Zohar, the Belgian ministry of justice says it did not identify Rosy Blue’s Dilip Mehta as the person who had been arrested.
“Although this false media attack will not change the company’s commitment to its staff, the industry, or society at large, the management of Rosy Blue NV nevertheless wishes to make clear they will use all legal resources at their disposal against those who unjustly smear the company’s reputation,” Bhansali added. “In the case at hand, the company therefore reserves its right to take further legal action.”
