The Queen may have worn a brooch set with the Cullinan III and IV diamonds at her Jubilee celebrations, but the company that cut the stones is continuing the relationship with a limited-edition collection made in her honour.

A collaboration between Royal Asscher and Canadian designer Reena Ahluwalia, the ‘Stars for the Diamond Jubilee’ collection comprises six pieces with floating diamonds representing the Union Jack’s red, white, and blue. Each piece is fabricated in 18-karat rose gold.

“The passion for fancy-coloured diamonds is a long-lasting passion in the Asscher family,” said the company’s managing director, Mike Asscher. “The ‘Diamond Jubilee’ ring is one of the most spectacular rings we have created in this collection. The blue and pink diamonds in combination with the white diamonds show Mother Nature’s true mystery.”

The collection continues the long-standing association between Royal Asscher and the royals.

Joseph Asscher cut the 3106.75-carat Cullinan diamond in 1908. At 530 carats, Cullinan I was mounted into the Scepter with the Cross, while Cullinan II was set into St. Edward’s Crown, both of which are part of the Royal Crown Jewels and housed in the Tower of London.

“We are truly still inspired by the Royal family,” says Lita Asscher, president of Royal Asscher of America. “Together with Reena Ahluwalia, we designed a special limited edition of the Stars of Africa. The collection has always been inspired by the Cullinan/Star of Africa in the British Crown Jewels, and this Diamond Jubilee, therefore, has even more meaning to us. The Royal family is an example of how old-world and new generations come together.”

All the pieces have their own unique serial number and certificate, and are only available at Harrods in London.
