Toronto police are actively searching for two individuals involved in a violent smash-and-grab at a Scarborough Town Centre jewellery store. Armed with hammers, the suspects forcefully broke into display cases and fled with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
According to a City News report, the robbers were pursued on foot by an off-duty police officer and security guards. Employing pepper spray to deter their pursuers, the two suspects evaded capture and were seen escaping in a white sedan.
The officer and security guards sustained minor injuries during the pursuit. Police told City News the suspects dropped several stolen items while fleeing the store.
Both suspects are male. The first has short hair and was wearing a blue medical mask, a black jacket, and pants. The second individual, believed to be in his early 20s with a slim build, was last seen wearing white shoes, orange gloves, and black pants.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the 43 Division of the Toronto Police Service.
