Isabelle Meyers, a second-year design student at the New York-based Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), has won the Scott Kay/FIT jewellery design contest.
Meyers’ design featured a bracelet, ring and drop earrings in platinum with diamonds. She was selected by a diverse panel including Colleen Banks, associate style editor at Martha Stewart Weddings; Ashley Davis, National Jeweler’s associate editor; Steve Velasquez, CEO of Bailey Banks and Buddle.
In addition to having her winning design produced and shown alongside the brand’s 2017 introductions, Meyers received a $3000 prize and will accompany Scott Kay to the JCK Luxury Show to unveil the set.
“We had an incredible experience partnering with FIT for this design contest,” says Kelly Kahn, director of brand management for Scott Kay. “Each student showcased excellent design skills, creativity, and extreme dedication to perfection.”
The contest was open to all second-year design FIT students and required applicants to create three pieces from a bridal set of four (either a ring, bracelet, necklace or earrings), using or building upon the brand’s design codes and present hand drawings, technical drawings, measurement details, materials, and colour options.
