Sponsored by the Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC), the award will be based on a consumer market research study. One consumer-selected winner will be named in the bridal, business/day wear, classical, evening wear, and men’s wear categories currently included in the Spectrum Awards lineup.
The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) and MVI Marketing jointly formed the new division.
“The consumer is the most important voice in the jewellery industry,” said MVI president Liz Chatelain. “Our JCOC panel will love to vote on their favourite jewellery designs and we are looking forward to honouring talented jewellery designers on behalf of our panelists.”
AGTA CEO Douglas K. Hucker said the results may hold a few surprises.
“It should be interesting to see how the consumer’s choices compare with the results of our traditional judging methods,” he noted.
All submissions to the Spectrum Awards will be automatically entered into the new division free of charge. Winners will be announced at GemFair Tucson in February during the AGTA Spectrum Awards Dinner Dance.
