A new video has emerged showing a stolen pick-up truck repeatedly crashing into a jewellery store during a botched robbery in Scarborough, Ont. The incident occurred at a plaza near Eglinton Avenue East and Brimley Road.

Surveillance footage obtained by CTV News Toronto shows a black pick-up truck reversing into the storefront, sending shattered glass spilling onto the vehicle. As the truck impacts the store, four suspects exit a light-coloured vehicle parked across the lot. They approach the jewellery store carrying black garbage bags and hammers.

The suspects attempt to break into the store through the front window but are unsuccessful. They then retreat to the light-coloured vehicle and the truck reverses into the store two more times. After the third attempt, about half of the truck appears to be inside the store. Despite further efforts to enter, the suspects are unable to gain access to the store and flee the scene shortly after.

Toronto police say the truck struck a gas line during the incident, prompting an evacuation of the plaza until the gas could be safely turned off.

Police later discovered that the truck used in the attempted smash-and-grab was stolen. Toronto police are now searching for five masked suspects connected to the incident, though no further descriptions have been released. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them.
