Stornoway executive chair Eira Thomas now sits on the board of directors of Lucara Diamond Corp.
The Canadian geologist served with Aber Resources Ltd., (now Harry Winston Diamond Corp.) from 1992 to 1997, leading the field exploration team that discovered the Diavik diamond pipes in the Northwest Territories in 1994.
In 1997, Thomas was promoted to Aber’s vice-president exploration, a post she held for two years. She also served as a director of Aber Diamond Corp., from 1998 to 2006.
Lucara is an African-focused diamond exploration company based in Vancouver.
“We look forward to working with Eira as we develop the Mothae diamond project in Lesotho and continue to develop and expand on Lucara’s exploration portfolio,” said William Lamb, the company’s president and chief operating officer.
Thomas is also a director of several other public companies and organizations, including Suncor Energy Ltd, Strongbow Exploration Inc., Fortress Minerals Corp., the Northwest Territories Chamber of Mines, and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
In addition, Thomas was president of Stornoway Diamond Corp., as well as CEO and director of Stornoway Ventures Ltd. Thomas remains executive chair of Stornoway Diamond Corp.
