The world of food-based lab-grown diamonds just got a bit bigger, with the announcement of M&M’s unique Super Bowl gift. While the winning team typically receives diamond-encrusted rings, the candy company has promised a distinctive consolation prize to the runners-up: rings with lab-grown diamonds crafted from peanut butter.

In an effort to replicate the Super Bowl tradition, each M&M’s lab-grown diamond ring features the words “Almost Champions” and the brand’s iconic orange character, all set in 14K gold. The piece has been dubbed the “M&M’s Almost Champions Ring of Comfort.”

In a conversation with Food World News, a representative from M&M’s elaborated on the creation, stating, “Peanut butter is widely regarded as one of the world’s most comforting foods on Earth. So, we heated, purified, and compressed some M&M’S peanut butter into actual diamonds, which we then fashioned into what we believe to be the world’s most comforting and stylish ring for Almost Champions.”

The peanut butter diamonds fall in line with the growing trend of food-based lab-grown diamonds, joining the ranks of Taco Bell Canada’s taco shell diamonds and Burger King Germany’s Whopper diamonds.
