Black glass graces the façade of the new flagship Thomas Sabo store in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre. The concept boutique officially opened its doors with a media launch late last month.

Thomas Sabo now has two reasons to celebrate.

Not only did the German-based jewellery and watch company open the doors to its 72-m2 flagship store in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, but plans are in the works to welcome a concept boutique to the Oakridge Centre in Vancouver in August.

“Thomas Sabo continues to grow in Canada,” said Philippe Hazan, managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of TSMI, Thomas Sabo’s Canadian distributor.

“With our new Toronto shop now open in Yorkdale Shopping Centre, the brand will be sold in over 70 boutiques across Canada. Oakridge Centre’s fashion-forward environment and savvy shopper couldn’t be a more perfect fit.”

Redecorating the store with the change of every season is part of the company’s strategy for keeping its look fresh.

“This keeps things interesting for us, for staff, and customers,” Hazan tells Jewellery Business at the Toronto store’s official launch. “It’s like walking into a new shop four times a year. This is something that is very unique to Thomas Sabo.”

Rather than detract from the dealer base, concept stores help promote a brand overall, Hazan notes.

The Vancouver location brings the count to five signature stores in Canada and more than 200 worldwide.
