
Arrests have been made following two connected jewellery store robberies in Mississauga, Ont. The incidents occurred at two separate Mississauga malls within a 24-hour period—Erin Mills Town Centre and Square One. Peel Regional Police have charged two individuals from Toronto and one youth so far.
Police say six suspects were involved in the first robbery at Erin Mills Town Centre, where the suspects—disguised and wielding hammers—conducted a smash and grab operation. They fled the scene in a stolen vehicle from Toronto.
The subsequent robbery at Square One was conducted in a similar manner—five suspects entered the store and smashed display cases with hammers. Police, along with mall security conducting patrols, apprehended an adult and two young offenders after a brief foot chase. The remaining two suspects evaded capture, though Police recovered a significant amount of jewellery along with some weapons. No injuries were reported in either incident.
As per CTV News, the apprehended individuals are Toronto-residents: 18-year-old Gerald Walker, 20-year-old Tejpal Toor, and an unnamed 17-year-old. The three have been charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of wearing a disguise with intent and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
