Two individuals have been charged for their role in a five-day-long spree of smash-and-grab robberies, targeting multiple jewellery stores in Mississauga and Brampton, Ont.

The first incident took place near Mississauga’s Dixie Road and South Service Road. Four suspects, with their faces covered, rushed into the store in the afternoon. They smashed display cases and snatched jewellery before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Police have determined their getaway car was stolen. No injuries have been reported.

Four days later, four suspects entered a store around Goreway Drive and Morning Star Drive in Mississauga. In a similar fashion to the previous robbery, the suspects covered their faces, smashed cases with hammers, and fled in a stolen vehicle. No injuries resulted from this incident, either.

The next day, four suspects dashed into a Brampton store, located in the area of Kennedy Road and Clarence Street. This incident mirrored the other two, with the suspects carrying hammers and covering their faces, breaking display cases, and leaving in a stolen vehicle. No injuries were reported.

After the third robbery, police officers located the stolen vehicle a short distance from the Brampton jewellery store. Two of the four suspects were apprehended after a pursuit on foot.

Police believe the three incidents are linked and have identified the arrested individuals as 18-year-old Elijah Roberts and a 16-year-old minor whose name cannot be disclosed, under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Both have been charged with three counts of robbery, three counts of disguise with intent, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. Currently, information on the remaining two suspects has not been released.
