A 9.5-m Tiffany box covering the ice rink at Rockefeller Center helped kick off the jeweller’s 2013 Blue Book Ball.
The evening’s art deco setting with grey tones, velvet drapes, and starburst carpeting welcomed guests and highlighted the Roaring Twenties theme, which served as inspiration for the collection.
“The Jazz Age was a time of great energy and creativity,” said Michael J. Kowalski, chair and chief executive officer (CEO) of Tiffany & Co.
“All eyes looked to New York for the latest in music and style. As the city’s first great jeweller, Tiffany provided the diamonds for this non-stop party—and I am happy to say, we still do. So it is with pleasure and gratitude we celebrate this memorable chapter in American life, in the city where it all began.”
About 400 guests attended the ball, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Michelle Williams. Carey Mulligan, star of the upcoming film, The Great Gatsby; its director, producer, and co-writer, Baz Luhrmann; and costume and production designer, Catherine Martin, were also on hand. Tiffany supplied all the jewellery worn in the movie.
