Police have arrested a 67-year-old man who owned two jewellery stores in Toronto, on charges related to fraud and theft. The accused is alleged to have operated Amiza Diamond at 345 Bloor St. E and Inaza Diamond at 543 Danforth Ave., between the months of August 2023 and February 2024.

According to the Toronto Sun, customers who entrusted their jewellery for repairs and appraisals at both stores found they were unable to retrieve their belongings. Upon visiting the stores to pick up their jewellery, they discovered the stores had abruptly closed. In addition to jewellery-related services, police allege the accused offered loan services.

Amin Hasmani has been formally charged with two counts of fraud, two counts of theft, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

The investigation into these incidents remains ongoing, and investigators suspect there may have been more victims. Anyone with information is urged to contact Toronto Police.
