A truck driver delivering materials to the Renard Project has been killed.
Stornoway Diamond Corp., says the accident happened just before midnight on March 11 on the winter road that links Route 167 to the site in Northern Québec.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the driver,” said Matt Manson, Stornoway’s president and chief executive officer (CEO).Â
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time.”
According to the company, the driver worked for a transport company and was part of a convoy delivering materials to the project site.
The Sûreté du Québec and the Commission de la Santé et de la Sécurité du Travail du Québec have been notified and are investigating the incident.Â
Stornoway says it is providing support to the victim’s family and colleagues, as well as the third-party contractors involved.
