[1]Gem Diamonds has unearthed not one, but two, 160-plus-carat diamonds from its Letšeng mine in Lesotho.
At 162.06 carats and 161.74 carats, the Type II and Type I diamonds, respectively, are expected to achieve top prices at Letšeng’s February tender.
“We are pleased to see the Letšeng mine continue to deliver such large high-quality white diamonds, as the mine confirms its position as the world’s foremost source of exceptional large diamonds, said Gem Diamonds chief executive officer (CEO) Clifford Elphick.
The company says the fact both diamonds are largely unscathed is proof the measures it’s taken to reduce diamond damage at the mine are working.
