Two arrested following string of Ontario jewellery store robberies

Police have successfully apprehended two individuals in connection with back-to-back jewellery store robberies in Mississauga, Ont. The suspects allegedly participated an initial three-person smash-and-grab operation at a jewellery store in the area of Burnhamthorpe Road West and Erin Mills Parkway.

The three individuals conducting the smash-and-grab evaded detection by concealing their faces and successfully fleeing the scene with the stolen merchandise.

On August 28, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., two of the same suspects attended the jewelry department of the area of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West. Armed with a hammer and a firearm, they shattered display cases and stole multiple items before fleeing.

Soon after the incident, police located the two individuals involved in both robberies in a stolen vehicle in Toronto. The suspects were in possession of property from both offences, as well as a replica firearm.

The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Ali-Cem Vural from Woodbridge, Ont., and a youth, have been charged with robbery, robbery with a firearm, two counts of wearing disguise, and two counts of possession of stolen property.

The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming. Anyone with information is urged to contact the relevant authorities.
