Fiera di Vicenza and the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) have signed a far-reaching agreement that will encourage collaboration between the two groups.

Specifically, the deal will see the fair acting as a representative for all Italian and European jewellery, gold, watchmaking, and technology brands exhibiting at the Dubai International Jewellery Week in November. Fiera di Vicenza will also act as the exclusive representative for all European Union markets.

“The Arab world loves gold and precious stones, it appreciates Italian jewellery, Italian products, and the European style in all high-range segments,” said fair president, Roberto Ditri. “I am sure that signing the agreement will open new collaboration prospects and will bring much satisfaction to Fiera di Vicenza, Italy, Europe, Dubai, and the Arab World.”

The agreement was inked during last month’s CIBJO World Congress held in Vicenza, Italy.

“This strategic alliance will increase visibility and will promote commercial and business opportunities, not only for producers, but also for potential buyers of gold and jewellery in two of the most active luxury markets in the world: Europe and the Middle East,” said DWTC senior vice-president, Trixee Loh.

The agreement is part of the fair’s five-year plan to introduce the ‘Made in Italy’ brand to new strategic markets. Other agreements are being negotiated with industry groups in India, Hong Kong, and Brazil. The U.S. market remains Italy’s main consumer of gold jewellery.
