VicenzaOro president steps down

Only a few months after taking the reins at the VicenzaOro fair, Paolo Mantovani has resigned amid reports in the Italian press of a dispute with members of the show’s management.

According to a Sept. 25 article in the local media—Il Giornale Di Vicenza—Mantovani accused the fair’s general manager, Corrado Facco, of “private” negotiations with the Hong Kong Jewelry & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) regarding placement of its booth.

By Sept. 30, media was reporting the fair’s board of directors was in support of Facco.

It has since appointed the fair’s vice-president, Stefano Stenta, to take on the role of legal representative of the Fiera di Vicenza SpA. He will manage the company in conjunction with Facco.

Born in Vicenza, Stenta has a bachelor’s degree in economics, and has served as president of Atelier Stimamiglio Srl since 1992. The company designs and manufactures haute couture clothing for women for Italian and international fashion designers and brands.

He has also served as president of Ente Bilaterale Artigianato Veneto (EBAV), which manages the funds of artisans and companies in the Veneto region.
