Fiera di Vicenza is now taking submissions for two newly created international design contests.
A joint venture with Milano Politecnico School of Design, Next Jeneration—Jewellery Talent Contest 2012 was created to promote designers aged 30 and under. This year’s theme asks applicants to design a ring, earrings, pendant, necklace, bracelet, or brooch around the idea of ‘Souvenir d’Italie,’ which looks to interpret the best of Italy in a modern and contemporary style.
Judges will assess each piece based on originality, degree of innovation, modern interpretation of a souvenir, interaction with the human body, and production potential.
Designers are free to use any material in designing their submissions. First prize is 3000 euros, second is 2000 euros, and third is 1000 euros.
The juried contest is open to designers whose birthdate falls after Jan. 30, 1982. More than one submission can be made using separate entry forms and the deadline to submit designs is March 16. Winners will receive their awards at VicenzaOro ‘Charm’ in May.
The second design contest—the Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards 2012—promotes the best of international jewellery design in the following categories:
• Best Italian jewellery designer
• Best international jewellery designer
• Best jewellery brand collection
• Best jewellery flagship store
• Best jewellery communication campaign
• Best jewellery website
• Best jewellery packaging
A panel of judges will select a shortlist of finalists for each category. Entries must be submitted by March 16. Winners will also be presented their awards at VicenzaOro ‘Charm.’
