Designed by Italian jewellery house Damiani, the lingerie retailer’s ‘Harlequin Fantasy Bra’ features 2355 hand-set white and cognac diamonds weighing 150 carats, along with a rare 16-carat heart-shaped, champagne-coloured diamond.
The skill of 15 artisans at Damiani’s Valenza workshop and more than 800 hours went into creating the 18-karat gold design, which is set on the lingerie maker’s convertible bra.
Artisans burnished the gold in the harlequin pattern by covering each stone with an enamel solution to both protect and preserve the diamonds. The piece was then submerged in rhodium to create the burnishing effect and the enamel removed from the stones. The black satin net under the piece can also be removed and mounted onto a gown or bustier.
The bra makes its debut in the Victoria’s Secret ‘Christmas Dreams & Fantasies’ catalogue. It will also be worn by Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Marisa Miller at the company’s annual fashion show in December.
The most expensive bra ever made is also a Victoria’s Secret piece and cost $12.5 million.
