Victorinox Swiss Army is refitting Keir Fine Jewellery in Whistler, BC, into a brand store for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Keir Fine Jewellery in Whistler, B.C., is getting an Olympic makeover thanks to Victorinox Swiss Army.

The Swiss watch company is taking over the Whistler Village jewellery retailer for two months and turning it into a brand store during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It will carry a signature collection of items from all six Victorinox Swiss Army product categories: cutlery, Swiss Army knives, timepieces, travel gear, fashion, and fragrance.

The store will be completely re-outfitted to reflect the Victorinox Swiss Army brand, including new fixtures, as well as interior and exterior signs. Victorinox will also hire and train existing staff. The retrofit is expected to take two days and the jewellery store will be returned to its original state following the games.

“Having a presence in Whistler during the Olympics makes a lot of sense for our brand,” said Victorinox Swiss Army president Rick Taggart. “Victorinox Swiss Army is internationally recognized and our quality products are designed for people who appreciate active lifestyles. The company is also a loyal supporter of Swiss athletes and sponsors the Swiss bobsled and luge teams during the regular season.”

Keir Fine Jewellery owner Dave Campbell said he expects the Swiss brand will hold great appeal for Olympic visitors.

“Victorinox Swiss Army is also a brand we’ve worked with for a long time and we trust them to take good care of our team and our store.”

The brand store opens to the public on Feb. 3.
