The second-ever VOD Dubai International Jewellery Show has been deemed a success. Organized by DV Global Link (a joint venture between the Dubai World Trade Centre [DWTC] and the Italian Exhibition Group [IEG]), the trade- and consumer-focused event ran from November 14 to 17 and attracted exhibitors and buyers from all over the world.
“The consolidation of the new format, which started last year and continued on for this installment, confirms it is the most strategic, optimum, and suitable considering the market dynamics,” said Luca Veronesi, the show’s director. “The impact of such a beneficial B2B and B2C showcase will provide a boost for Dubai’s jewellery industry and that of the entire Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region going forward into 2019.”
The show offered numerous features to draw in attendees, from a hosted buyers program pairing retailers and wholesalers with exhibitors to a forum on the changing landscape of jewellery design. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) delivered a session on identifying synthetic diamonds as well, while Paola de Luca of TrendVision Jewellery + Forecasting shared predictions for consumer behaviour and product directions in gems and jewellery.
Exhibitors at this year’s VOD Dubai hailed from 21 countries and showcased more than 25,000 jewellery pieces. They met with visitors from more than 80 countries, with most coming from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Russia, Kuwait, and China.
DV Global Link says it is already gearing up for next year’s show, scheduled for November 13 to 16.
