AGS announces keynote and featured speakers for 2017 Conclave

The American Gem Society (AGS) has announced its lineup of keynote and featured speakers for Conclave 2017 in Hollywood, Calif.

Scott McKain—best-selling author focused on expanding profits, increasing sales, and engaging customers—will deliver the breakfast keynote on April 6. The closing keynote will be delivered by composer and violinist, Kai Kight. Kight uses music to share stories of his transformation as an artist and then translates the music into takeaways for the audience.

The American Gem Society (AGS) has launched a mentoring program, designed to foster personal development and professional growth for its members.

AGS/AGSL begin search for new CEO

The search is on to find a replacement for Ruth Batson, CEO of American Gem Society (AGS) and AGS Laboratories following news she will retire next year. “Ruth will be a tough act to follow and we appreciate she has provided ample notice so we can transition the new CEO under her guidance,” said Louis Smith (Smithworks Fine Jewelry), who is leading the committee to replace Batson.

Launched by Jewelers Education Foundation (JEF), the Jewelers Education Portal is a collaboration between associations serving the jewellery, diamond, coloured stones, precious metal, and watch sectors.

AGS marks two milestones

American Gem Society (AGS) is raising a glass to the 50th anniversary of its diamond grading standards. In 1966, the group launched the AGS Diamond Grading Standards Manual, which it says was the first published manual that included a grading system for all 4 Cs, including cut.
