Designers interested in testing their skills in an international context can now enter the 20th annual Saul Bell Design Award Competition. Contest organizer Rio Grande issued an official call for entries this week, inviting submissions from designers worldwide for a deadline of October 25.

Winner of 2016 Vaccaro Family Scholarship announced

Kayla Lim, a third-year student of George Brown College’s Jewellery Arts program, has won the 2016 Vaccaro Family Scholarship. Sponsored by CJExpos and Beverly Hills Jewellers, the scholarship competition asked applicants to create a piece based on the theme, “An Evening in Paris,” with an estimated retail value of $1500.

Stuller workshop features annual Battle of the Benches competition

Stuller’s Bench Jeweler Workshop in Lafayette, La. will feature hands on demonstrations and educational seminars on working with digitally grown assets, the diamond market, laser training, increasing profits with repair, working with platinum, and polishing and plating. The 2½-day workshop in March will also play host to the second annual Battle of the Benches competition. Four bench jewellers will be selected to compete in three challenges. The first challenge involves designing, modeling, and rendering projects in CAD.

Creative CADworks contest issues call for entries

Creative CADworks is launching their #CreativeInTheBox contest to recognize excellence in the categories of organic, bridal, and statement design. 

Artists and students are invited to submit their designs in these three categories, and the winner from each will have their design displayed on Creative CADworks’ website and social media platforms, receive a $100 Amazon gift card, and have their design 3D printed.
